Description

Creating a character is a core fundamental of acting! Join us for this exciting, introductory class designed for ages 8-12. Through engaging activities such as improvisation, character analysis, and collaborative teamwork, students will enhance their stage presence and develop the physical and vocal awareness needed to craft unique and believable characters onstage. Whether you are new to the stage or a seasoned performer, this course offers a fun and supportive environment for everyone to learn and grow their talents. Students will choose a song or monologue to showcase their character creation skills at the end of the session!

Ashley Strella

Ashley Strella is a Kansas City native actor, singer, dancer, and director now residing in Music City! She earned her BFA in Musical Theatre with minors in Dance and Exercise Science from Wichita State University and has been seen performing and directing all over the KC and Wichita metros. Some of her favorite credits include Pippin at WSU, Blues in the Night with the Black Repertory Theatre of KC, Conjure the Night for Cedar Fair's Halloween Haunt at Worlds of Fun as well as her direction of Ordinary Days at Olathe North High School. When she is not onstage, she can be found exploring local coffee shops, reading a good book, or spending time with her boyfriend. She moved to Nashville in July 2024 and is excited to be joining the team at CYT for her first year of teaching!
